long hard road out of hell

You’re never gonna live in London or Paris or some place great. You’re just a little girl with your eyes wide shut. You’ll stay here, exactly where you are now. And you will live here for the rest of your life. You’re not made for wonder and fame. You are as ordinary as you can be. 

You won’t travel the world.

You won’t meet your idols.

You won’t live the rest of your life with the perfect one.

You’ll spend your days with a ‘convenient one’.

Now get up in the morning.

Have a cup of coffee.

Go to work from 9 to 5.

Get home.

Cook dinner.

Your kid comes home from school.

Your husband parks the car in front.  

You all eat

Watch some TV for a while.

Make the bed.

Read a magazine.

Now go to bed.

Turn off the light.

Now fall asleep and remember everything you've ever wanted and never achieved. You have a family but you know you’re all alone. You have no one. You are simple. And remember how you never wanted to be simple? Well, that’s what you are now. Is it all just a bad dream? I don’t think so.

Now hush little darling and fall asleep.

Keep your eyes wide shut and it’ll all go away.
