I have this habit of rewatching old TV shows because I am
simply too afraid to start a new one. (I am so NOT starting Game of Thrones) I
have several ones: Veronica Mars, Californication, FRIENDS, Wildfire and so on.
But one of my all-time favourites is Sex and the City. The addiction of
watching the same thing over and over again comes with the prize(?) of learning
every line from every episode. But one other thing is that you start behaving
like your favourite characters. I don’t know about you, people, but I’ve
definitely picked up some really nasty (and also good) qualities by these
fictional characters. For example.
Bad: I question everything and everyone just like Veronica
Mars. I swear like a motherfucker and talk shamelessly about sex like Hank
Moody. I try to tell more awful jokes just like Chandler.
Good: Veronica taught me how to stalk you and successfully
use an electric shock on you. Hank showed how great a Hollywood writer’s life
can be full of drugs, sex and booze. I try to tell more awful jokes just like
Chandler.
I remember my mother didn’t let me watch Sex and the city
when I was little and it was like the forbidden fruit. But as I watch it again
and again I find myself trying to look and act more and more like Carrie
Bradshaw. The three things that I love about this show are: the drinking, the
smoking, the writing (and the dirty sex jokes of course). Always an inspiration.
